Sustainability through Educational Opportunities

Every year, Copagaz intensifies its investments through the incorporation and implementation of sustainability principles in its management and operation. In terms of attention and importance given to its internal stakeholder, its actions aim at development and professional qualification projects. Considering that education should be one of the fundamental pillars of a sustainable society, in other words, that the society should be based on a development model that contemplates the interdependence of social, economic, and environmental aspects, and considering the social inequality found in the country as a whole, which results, in large measure, from the lack of educational opportunities, Copagaz decided to go beyond its role as a service provider and took the challenge of investing in programs designed to provide educational incentive and enhancement for its internal stakeholders.
Scholarship Program
Education is a subject of great importance for Copagaz. For this reason, the company continuously looks for ways to provide its employees with conditions that allow them to develop themselves fully, which means the opportunity to show their individual abilities and the fulfillment of their expectations on a personal basis. Based on this, Copagaz committed itself, through the Ueze Elias Zahran Foundation, to providing its employees with education integrated into professional development. The Zahran Foundation is a non-profit institution, maintained with financial resources from the companies of the Zahran Group, recognized as a public utility organization by the federal governments. The institution’s goal is to organize and support social programs in priority areas for the company and its stakeholders, such as education, culture, and environmental preservation, in almost all areas in which the organization is present. Thus, in August 1999, the Scholarship Program was created for the company’s internal stakholders as one more way to encourage employees to suceed and learn professionally and to offer conditions for the enhancement of their quality of life, self-esteem, and qualification.
