40 years of AEGPL! 1968-2008!

AEGPL’s role is to position LP Gas in the new European energy mix as a clean alternative option and to highlight its potential contribution to addressing energy and environmental challenges. The LP Gas Industry Roadmap produced by AEGPL formalized this strategic vision for 2030 facilitating the dialogue with the key decision makers. The AEGPL Annual Congress goes a long way towards enhancing the external positioning of the LP Gas sector. One of the specific goals of this year’s event was to include representatives from academia, government and the scientific community. This initiative yielded the dual benefits of enhancing the external visibility and positioning of our sector and enriching our own internal exchanges.

The AEGPL is the representative body of the European LP Gas industry - established in 1968 with six Members countries – Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, France and the UK. Paris was selected as the Headquarters. French, German and English (Italian became the 4th official language in 1989) were official languages. In 2005, AEGPL moved to Brussels.

AEGPL has continuously developed its credibility and legitimacy, obtaining recognition of LP Gas as a clean alternative energy source. Through its work in Brussels, it has established a voice for the LP Gas industry within the European Institutions, the European and International Standards organisations and the Economic and Social Commission of the UN (ECOSOC).

As a result of AEGPL’s advocacy efforts the views of the sector are increasingly recognised and integrated in the European regulatory process.

The AEGPL anniversary celebration of at the annual Congress in Milan was an opportunity to bring all AEGPL members together to demonstrate the effort that has been made by the association to promote the safe and sustainable development of LP Gas in Europe over 40 years.

The celebration also mobilizes and focuses European industry on the work which still needs to be done to reach the goals of the Industry Roadmap.
