In Germany today, new forest space is being cultivated thanks to a special DVFG initiative - for every car on the road running on Autogas, a tree is planted. This further adds to the reduction of CO2 emissions that an individual can achieve if driving a vehicle fueled by Autogas. According to the data of the ‘Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald’ (The Society for the Protection of German Forests), a tree consumes 2.2 tonnes of CO2 per annum. Trees produce oxygen, they act as natural filters of the air and water around them and most importantly, they offer refuge and safety to wildlife. They also contribute to the ecological balance that the earth needs to stay healthy.

The DVFG initiative is supported by the ‘Stiftung Unternehmen Wald’ (Foundation for the Management of Forests). This organization set down the framework for the reconstruction and care of forests and land. Together with the foundation, suitable areas in Germany were chosen for the forestation and then work began with the various administrators to plant the trees. The car manufacturers, importers of Autogas plants and outfitters are cooperating fully with DVFG to make this initiative successful. They contribute by donating a certain amount to plant a tree for every Autogas car built. DVFG are managing and coordinating the project.
