Communicating the Benefits of LP Gas – The Role of the WLPGA

LP Gas has a disproportionately important role in the energy future of the world and in the international effort to minimize climate change. It is a clean fuel, it is an ideal back-up for renewable energy and it is an alternative to deforestation. It is the healthy indoor cooking fuel that 3 billion people need. It is the clean gas supply for those many areas that natural gas pipelines cannot reach.
One of the most important responsibilities of the WLPGA is to continue effectively its leading role as communicator of the uses and benefits of LP Gas. The audiences for the voice of the WLPGA are all the stakeholders in LPG and energy: governments, NGO’s, international agencies, media, consumers, and business.
Communication is a two-way process: listening is as important as speaking. The WLPGA takes seriously the obligation of listening to all stakeholders, being open to all facts and all properly researched scientific conclusions. It also takes seriously its responsibility to communicate what is relevant to each stakeholder in an effective and useable form.
The WLPGA has within its membership a huge inventory of expertise and technology. The willingness to share knowledge, to inform each other and the world, to make strong efforts to be good citizens of the world – these are the ideals that guide the communications efforts of the WLPGA.
To be heard at the highest levels in the world scene, LP Gas needs a representative which not only has the credibility and authority to forge and communicate industry consensuses on good practices and key policies that should be uniform across nations, but can also host responsible differences of opinion in open and transparent debate. The WLPGA is that credible and authoritative body. The WLPGA has that standing to participate in the world debate at the highest levels.
Efficient, healthier, cleaner, abundant, accessible, convenient. These aspects of LP Gas give it an important role in the transition to a cleaner, lower carbon energy future – these are what the WLPGA leadership and staff are committed to communicating, as a prelude to real action by all stakeholders to contribute to the making of a brighter and better future for the world.
