LP Gas Contributing to Vienna Worldwide Status!

Next Destination of the AEGPL Annual Congress 13-15 May 2009

By Patrick Segarra, Director General, AEGPL

Vienna ranks amongst the first cities world-wide. Progressive environmental policy is one of the reasons why Vienna fares so well. With more than 500 buses from the Viennese public transport fleet running on LPG, our energy makes a significant contribution to this result. The AEGPL Congress will take place from 13-15 May is the LPG event of the year for the European industry. Please click here to read more about Vienna Environment Policies. Visitors to the congress can visit an LPG Bus from Wiener Linen at the exhibition.

The European Congress in Vienna will be the opportunity to update your knowledge and understanding of the European energy context. Key energy challenges in Europe will be addressed and discussion will focus on the significant contribution that LPG makes to the European energy mix and will make for many years to come. Drawing key industry leaders and experts, the AEGPL Congress is an exceptional forum to discuss and debate the future of our industry and the role of LPG in Europe. This year’s event coincides with the beginning of the practical implementation of the new energy and environment paradigm established in December 2008 by the European Union. As Europe looks to lead the way in the global shift toward a sustainable, low carbon energy model, the LPG sector is busily evolving to help meet the needs of policy-makers and citizens alike. As a clean, low carbon and immediately available solution, our energy has a key role to play and we need to continue to make its characteristics visible at all levels.

In this challenging context it is essential that we, as an industry, combine our talents and efforts to maximum effect. In that perspective, AEGPL, the European LPG Association, and the WLPGA, the World LP Gas Association, have decided to develop a closer cooperation as of this year. The AEGPL, being more and more focussed on European legislative issues and advocacy, aims to provide an ever-more effective support for our industry at EU-level. The 2009 Congress marks the beginning of this new cooperation.

Over the course of this Congress, entitled ‘LPG: Energy for Challenging Times’, delegates will both demonstrate and discover just how much our industry has to offer. High level speakers from the worlds of business, public policy and academia will discuss and debate prospects for the evolution of LPG as part of the European energy mix.

As always, the Congress will coincide with the annual LPG exhibition, an event expected to include more than 100 exhibitors from all facets of the industry and displaying the latest in technological developments.

A workshop dedicated to applications innovation in the LPG sector will be held on Wednesday the 13th of May from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Join us in Vienna!
