His Royal Highness the Prince of Asturias to open World LP Gas Forum in Madrid

This year’s World LP Gas Forum in Madrid will be opened by His Royal Highness the Prince of Asturias and promises to be a truly unique event in many ways. The Forum will consist of a combination of four events in one location: the annual World LP Gas Forum; 2010 AEGPL Congress (European LP Gas Association); the 25th anniversary of the AIGLP Conference (Ibero American LP Gas Association), and the third Global Technology Conference. The World LP Gas Association joins the Energy for All Partnership Steering Committee

The World LP Gas Association’s (WLPGA) request to join the Steering Committee of the Asian Development Bank's Energy for All Partnership (E4ALL) was approved by the Steering Committee on Tuesday 22 June 2010. The decision, which took place at a meeting in the Asian Development Bank’s HQ in Manila, underlined WLPGA’s continuing support of E4ALL as well as its role in leading the Partnership’s working group on LP Gas, E4 LPG. Antargaz, a UGI company and one of France’s leading LPG providers, is an official sponsor of “Le Tour de France 2010“, and has been a Tour sponsor since 1996. This national and international sporting event gathers over 10 million spectators along the roads of France every July. Le Tour de France has a long and important history in France, and is commonly referred to as the greatest free show in the country. Agreement Signed for 2012 World Gas Forum in Bali, Indonesia

The World LP Gas Association's Managing Director Mr James Rockall and the CEO of Indonesia’s Pertamina, Mrs Karen Agustiawan recently agreed a Memorandum of Understanding between the two organisations that ensures the 2012 World LP Gas Forum will take place in Bali Indonesia. Mr Rockall, in his speech at the official signing ceremony, praised Pertamina for their leadership in growing the Indonesian LP Gas market.

The 2011 World Gas Forum will take place in Qatar, Doha with the sales of this exhibition opening at this year's World Gas Forum in Madrid from 28th Sept to 1st Oct 2010.

Chilean National LPGA Association Summit

WLPGA, in cooperation with the Chilean National LPG Association, GLP Chile, held a one day seminar on 8 June in Santiago entitled “GLP: Energía excepcional al servicio de Chile” (LP Gas: Exceptional Energy for Chile).

The Summit was attended by over 250 representatives of the Chilean LP Gas industry, government and media and included keynote speeches from Ricardo Raineri, Minister of Energy for Chile and María Ignacia Benítez, Chilean Minister of the Environment. Read more...

North African Regional Summit Round-Up

In the last 12 months the WLPGA have held three regional summits: West Africa in Lagos in March 2009, South-East Asia in Kuala Lumpur in February 2010 and North Africa in Marrakech in May 2010.  These summits have been hugely successful in bringing the local industry together to share best practices and learning. They also give us a chance to have greater engagement with our membership and to address national and regional issues in far more detail.

The North Africa Summit titled ‘LP Gas: Exceptional Energy for North Africa’ in was a great success with over 120 participants from over 27 countries attending the first ever North African Summit.

Update from GAIN Council Meeting

Following on from the last Global Autogas Industry Network (GAIN) meeting in Kuala Lumpur in February, this time 40 delegates from around the world came together in Marrakech, Morocco on 18 May 2010 for the second of three yearly GAIN meetings.  A series of presentations were given including a joint case study from Repsol and vehicle manufacturer, Mercedes Benz about Autogas ambulances in Spain.  Read more...

WLPGA members Purvin & Gertz held their 2010 Asia LPG Seminar in Singapore 22 – 23 June. This highly attended fixture on the LP Gas industry calendar attracts participants and experts from around the world who are interested in the Asia Pacific region which remains the fastest growing market for energy in the world and is expected to continue to expand in the future as regional economies grow, income levels rise and more people gain access to modern fuels. GTC-2 Innovation Award Winner - Mr Shungo Totsuka, Nippon Oil

The Second Global Technology Conference (GTC) was held on 26th September 2008 in Seoul where 48 papers were presented. The GTC steering group members have recently reviewed these papers to identify the 2010 WLPGA Innovation Award winner. We are pleased to announce that Mr Shungo Totsuka of Nippon Oil with his paper ‘Development and Installation of the LPG-powered Residential Fuel Cell System’ has been selected by the GTC steering group as the recipient of the 2010 WLPGA Innovation Award. Mr Shungo Totsuka will be presented with his award in Madrid during the 23rd World Gas Forum.

The Best Practice Workshop will take place in Dhaka, Bangladesh on 11th Nov 2010. It will be a one day workshop for all LP Gas stakeholders in Bangladesh designed to ensure the business is well positioned to take advantage of the projected increase in demand over next 10yrs
